On Friday 27th April 2012, the labour movement of Trinidad and Tobago lost a true comrade, Lyle "Chick" "Charlie" Townsend, former Secretary General of the Communications Workers Union. He was deeply respected for his militance, his strong leadership and his committment to workers, ordinary people, the working class and radical politics.
Cde. Townsend was 66.
Rest in eternal peace.
The Union mourns the passing of Hilda Harris, former Accountant at the Head Office of the Union who passed on Wednesday 12 October. She had dedicated 41 years of service to her beloved Union, from 1948 to 1989. She will be remembered for her professionalism, her no-nonsense yet motherly demeanour and her unfailing loyalty. May she rest in eternal peace. Funeral arragements are not yet confirmed.
